Acrylic and mixed media, 36” x 36” x 1.5”
This piece was painted in little bits of time over the many months that my mother-in-law was battling COVID-19. At first, there were only a few birds but as time wore on, they became more numerous and came to represent a life force—dark and beautiful against the colorful backdrop. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law eventually died. Her spirit moved on, just as these birds will, passing through the landscape.
